NEW DELHI: Local telecommunications equipment maker Tejas Networks said the company had appointed Bhaskar Ramamurthi and PR Ramesh as (additional) independent directors, effective June 27.

“These appointments are based on the recommendation of the board’s nomination and compensation committee and are subject to shareholder approval,” he said in a statement Monday.

The company added that Gururaj Deshpande, who has served on the board of Tejas Networks since its inception in 2000, has stepped down as non-executive director, effective June 28.

Ramamurthi served as Director of IIT Madras from 2011 to 2022. Alumnus of IIT Madras and the University of California, Santa Barbara, he is a member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and the IEEE. Ramamurthi is Honorary Director of the Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT), a public-private initiative of the IIT-M Research Park, and has also served on the Boards of Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

Ramesh was President of Deloitte India and has over 40 years of experience in the profession, having served on the Deloitte Global Board and the Deloitte Asia Pacific Board.

He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and has also been associated with various regulatory and industry bodies. He has extensive experience working with clients in the manufacturing, banking and financial services, technology, media, telecommunications, energy and resources and consumer sectors throughout his career. professional.
